I am also a self-proclaimed map and history geek, which is why I started this blog.\u00a0 As I began generating the unique 7.5 minute topographic maps that make up my new <a href=\"http:\/\/www.apogeemapping.com\/Topos\/index.htm\">amTopo<\/a> product line, I found myself getting regularly distracted by the various features I was digitizing. I would ponder the history behind some mountain&#8217;s name. I would wonder about the Native Americans who created exquisite pictographs and petroglyphs in a remote canyon. I became curious about the historic ranches that existed in the &#8220;middle of nowhere.&#8221; Naturally, these questions triggered internet searches to find out more, and because I was having so much fun with this process, I wanted to share my findings with the public.
